Neighbors, I am humbled to ask your support for me for Hopkins City Council. If you were to have asked me a few years ago run for City Council, I would have not even considered it. My experiences in working to develop marketing for Hopkins and taking leadership roles in other organizations has created a philosophy of active citizenship within me. I look to share that and to ensure that Hopkins continues to be a strong and vibrant community. I want to be on Hopkins City Council for three main reasons: Marketing of Hopkins, Fiscally Responsible Decisions and Creating Active Citizenship. Continuing the marketing of Hopkins as a place to do business and also a strong place to live, raise families and play is intertwined in building the strength of Hopkins. The Think Hopkins campaign encourages people to look at our community in ways that may not always be obvious. I will ensure we expand what has already been developed and build upon that foundation. In my current role as Chair of the Hopkins Park Board and past roles as State President for the Minnesota Jaycees and President of Hopkins Business & Civic Association, I have gained a strong understanding of providing valuable and necessary services with less and less resources due to the economy and limited budgets. The key is to ensure all decisions are fiscally responsible. As a leader within the community, decisions will need to be made that may not always be popular, yet will ensure the continued financial stability of Hopkins. I will make those decisions. In order to accomplish the goals of our community, it requires residents to get involved. Being able to voice your opinion and being willing to help out our neighbors only strengthens Hopkins. This is known as Active Citizenship. I will encourage people I meet to take a small role in an area that is their passion and together we will watch Hopkins become the community of choice for future generations. |
Officially launched my campaign for City Council of Hopkins. I look forward to getting to know everyone. Hearing your ideas and continuing to build the foundation of what makes Hopkins truly a great place to live, work and play!
